Dept. of Alatural Resovice!z
This letter responds to your adequacy letter for the Deepe Farm
Pit dated March 29 , 1982 and received March 31 , 1982. Numbering
of items in this response follows that of your letter.
1. Mining Procedure. The five steps of mining described in the
application will be followed except to the extent that the
conditions placed on the permit by Boulder County preclude
following the sequence.
2 . Stockpile Location and Treatment. Page B-9 indicates the
area where deposit stockpiles will be placed. Boulder County
has assumed authority for determining exact placement of
deposit stockpiles.
Boulder County has specified the location of overburden and
topsoil stockpiles . The county has also specified planting
procedures for overburden and topsoil stockpiles .
3. Stripping. Boulder County has requested that Flatiron strip
areas to be mined in small increments and immediately preceding
mining. This is standard procedure for Flatiron Sand and Gravel
Company.
Reclamation. Unfortunately , Boulder County requirements preclude
any great extent of reclamation at Deepe Farm Pit for the first
seven years .
4. Dry Creek No. 2 Ditch Relocation. The mining at Deepe as
approved by Boulder County does not necessitate relocation of
Dry Creek No. 2 Ditch. However, Flatiron is consulting with
the ditch company on specifications for a relocated ditch.
Final approval by the ditch company awaits completion of
engineering drawings .
