III. The Proposed Action
• This mining plan action consists of a mining plan modification to Federal lease COC-
54608. Specifically, the mining plan modification proposed by TCC consists of:
Coal removal from the Wadge seam in portions of the Northern Mining District
(NMD), in the N% Section 21, N%:NW'/. Section 22, Township 5 North, Range 86
West of the 6ih P.M., via the extension of [he Northwest Mains, and Longwall
panel 12 R and 13 R.
The life of the mining operations is expected to continue for 15 years under Colorado
Permit No. C-82-056 and this proposed mining plan modification.
The average and the maximum annual production rates will not change as a result of this
mining plan modification.
The approved State permit azea will not change from its present 22,694 acres, however,
the new affected area will increase by 2,779 acres to a new total of 13,873 acres. No
additional surface disturbance will result from this mining plan modification.
Approval of this mining plan modification will increase the number of acres of Federal
coal in the approved mining plan area by 146 acres to a new total of 5,604 acres as shown
on the map included in this document.
• Approval of this mining plan modification will authorize the mining of approximately 1.3
million tons ofadditional Federal coal for a total of41.3 million tons.
No Federal surface lands will be included in the mining plan area as a result of this
action.
The approved postmining land use within the permit and mining plan azea will not
change as a result of this action.
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) has attached no new permit
stipulations to this permitting action, however, three (3) previously issued petmit
stipulations have been carried over and remain in force. These permit stipulations are
described and discussed in the State Findings section of this decision document.
No elements of TCC's proposal require additional special conditions to comply with
Federal law.
r~
L
