III. The Proposed Action <br />• This mining plan action consists of a mining plan modification to Federal lease COC- <br />54608. Specifically, the mining plan modification proposed by TCC consists of: <br />Coal removal from the Wadge seam in portions of the Northern Mining District <br />(NMD), in the N% Section 21, N%:NW'/. Section 22, Township 5 North, Range 86 <br />West of the 6ih P.M., via the extension of [he Northwest Mains, and Longwall <br />panel 12 R and 13 R. <br />The life of the mining operations is expected to continue for 15 years under Colorado <br />Permit No. C-82-056 and this proposed mining plan modification. <br />The average and the maximum annual production rates will not change as a result of this <br />mining plan modification. <br />The approved State permit azea will not change from its present 22,694 acres, however, <br />the new affected area will increase by 2,779 acres to a new total of 13,873 acres. No <br />additional surface disturbance will result from this mining plan modification. <br />Approval of this mining plan modification will increase the number of acres of Federal <br />coal in the approved mining plan area by 146 acres to a new total of 5,604 acres as shown <br />on the map included in this document. <br />• Approval of this mining plan modification will authorize the mining of approximately 1.3 <br />million tons ofadditional Federal coal for a total of41.3 million tons. <br />No Federal surface lands will be included in the mining plan area as a result of this <br />action. <br />The approved postmining land use within the permit and mining plan azea will not <br />change as a result of this action. <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) has attached no new permit <br />stipulations to this permitting action, however, three (3) previously issued petmit <br />stipulations have been carried over and remain in force. These permit stipulations are <br />described and discussed in the State Findings section of this decision document. <br />No elements of TCC's proposal require additional special conditions to comply with <br />Federal law. <br />r~ <br />L <br />
