The facilities area will be graded to approximate original contour. The
final elevation will be approximately 2-5 feet higher than the original
surface. The surface owner has requested that the area be graded in this
manner to provide a better grazing area for his livestock. The
backfilled material will be pi aced to minimize adverse effects to ground
water, to minimize off-site effects, and to support the postmining Land
use. Upon completion of grading this area, about 6 inches of topsoil
will be imported and spread over this area.
The operation is in compliance with the requirements of this section.
XVIII. Coal Processing Waste and Non-Coal Processing Waste - Rules
~rr~a-rR-s--3-r~-ar3sr~r-a -rr~„~-a
Information pertaining to processing waste is presented on pages 180-181
of the permit application.
The only coal processing occurring on-site is the screening and crushing
of coal. As such, no coal processing waste is generated by Sunland.
Underground development waste consists primarily of rock produced by
mining in fault areas. This material is gobbed underground in mined-out
portions of the Apex No. 2 Mine.
The operation is in compliance with the requirements of this section.
XIX. Mine Facilities, Coal Handling Structures, Support Facilities -
ihT-3TS~f'~i-3 Tfr'~f7T an f3
Information pertaining to facilities is presented on pages 127-128 and
180 of the permit application.
All mine facilities are located adjacent to the mine portals; there are
no off-site facilities. Facilities on-site include a conveyor from the
mine portals over Routt County Road 29 to the stacking tube, screening
plant, two 100-ton bins, office building, truck scales, shop,
bathhouse/warehouse, and sediment pond. Also, there is a mine fan
located on the portal bench and a bleeder fan connected to the old
Apex No. 1 Mine workings. All of these structures will be removed during
final reclamation except for the shop and bathhouse/warehouse. The
landowner has requested that these structures remain and the Division has
agreed to this request.
The operation is in compliance with the requirements of this section.
XX. Roads - Rules 2.05.3(3) and 4.03
Information pertaining to roads is presented on page 180 of the permit
application.
Routt County Road 29 traverses the permit area between the mine portals
and the facilities area. An overhead conveyor has been erected to move
coat from the portals to the facilities area. This road is graveled and
maintained by Routt County.
_l g_
