B. Schedule Revegetation is scheduled immediately following redistribution of soil. This will normally be during the fall between August 15 and November 15. C. Irrigation No irrigation is anticipated to be employed during revegetation at the Carbon Junction Mine. D. Weed and Pest Control Noxious weeds will be controlled on the revegetated azeas of the mine site. Upon identification of an infestation, OEI will implement control measures. Control measures will be implemented based on recommendations ofthe local NRCS or agricultural extension office. OEI will modify the permit as necessary to address the measures to be implemented. E. Fertilization Soils will be tested after respreading and prior seeding to determine the necessity of applying fertilizer. Fertilization rates will be based on the recommendations of the local NRCS or agricultural extension office and will reflect the nutrient requirements of the species in the seed mix. Fertilization may be delayed up to three growing seasons after initial planting to minimize weed growth in the reseeded azeas. Revegetation Success Criteria The criterion for evaluation of revegetation success for the approved post-mining land use is vegetation cover. This vegetation cover must be sufficient to control erosion. Based on sampling at other mines sites in the azea and the pre-mining vegetation studies, a revegetation cover standazd was established. The following will be the revegetation success criteria for the Carbon Junction Mine: 1. Vegetation Cover Vegetation cover of the reclaimed area will be successful when vegetation cover is 90 percent of the cover standard of 40 percent with 90 percent statistical confidence. 2. Herbaceous Production There is no herbaceous production revegetation success standazd. 3. Woody Plant Density There is no woody plazit density revegetation success standazd. 4. Species Composition There is no species composition revegetation success standard. 14
