Douglas Mountain Residents Association
32360 Robinson Hill Road 0 Golden, CO 80403
12//5/04 DMRA Letter • Page 2
Other related concerns that will need to be addressed before a mining permit is granted by the State of
Colorado include dust control and mitigation, and the impact of heavy truck traffic on the safety of the
public traveling on Highways l 19 and 6. Specifically, the State will need to evaluate and disclose all
potential impacts to the public and the environment in this sensitive area.
DMRA will need assurance from the State that air quality standards will be met at the facility, downwind
of the facility adjacent to and within any residential area, and along highways 119 and 6. Air quality and
dust are already major problems in Cleaz Creek Canyon as a result of the Frei Quarry, where neither the
facility nor the highway trucking dust standazds are enforced by the State. A strict ambient air quality
monitoring and enforcement program will be required by DMRA.
What wifl the traffic impacts be on CO 119 and US 6? How will these impacts be factored into CDOTs
Gaming Area Access EIS? Based on the application, how many daily truck trips will there be to and from
the facility. What will the impacts be at the intersection of Douglas Mountain Drive and CO 119, where a
traffic light is already needed due to existing heavy gambling traffic? All of these issues will need to be
evaluated, and an impact mitigation plan submitted to DMRA for review and comment.
We look forward to the State of Colorado's response to the issues presented in this letter, along with plans
that detail how these cancerns will be addressed if a mining permit is granted.
Sincerely,
DOUGLAS MOUNTAIN RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

Michael W.
