The BLM is the lead federal agency for developing
the Yankee Gulch Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which is being
prepared by a third-party EIS contractor, Woodward-Clyde Consultants
(Woodward-Clyde). Permitting of the pipelines will be completed as part of the
permitting of the overall Yankee Gulch Project and will be covered in the EIS.
Several environmental studies were completed for the Yankee Gulch Project
commercial mine plan. The studies included the pipeline corridor to the extent
determined to be appropriate in consultation with the BLM. Resource studies
completed for the project are indicated in Table 2.
Table 2 Pipeline Corridor Resource Studies
Study Contractor
Archaeological/cultural resources inventory Grand River Institute
Raptor nesting survey Cedar Creek Associates
Threatened/endangered plant survey Western Slope Environmental
Wetlands inventory/delineation Steigers Corporation
The Yankee Gulch Project pipeline will be constructed consistent with the results
of these resource studies and the respective permit conditions/stipulations
defined in the EIS and its Conditions of Approval. Any additional required
studies (e.g., for the new Davis Point route) of cultural resources, raptors,
threatened and endangered plants, or wetlands will be conducted prior to
pipeline construction.
1
' P~pehrie Wormaeon Summary 3
Yankee GWch Sodium Minerals Project
Amerman Soda.
