' 4.0 EVALUATION OF RECLAMATION SUCCESS
' Erosion and sediment control measures will be assessed during construction and
periodically thereafter to determine their effectiveness. Remedial actions will be taken
for any problem areas identified.
' Following construction and reclamation, a qualitative monitoring program will be
initiated to determine the need for further reclamation. The monitoring program will
' be conducted until reclamation efforts are considered satisfactory as determined by the
BLM or other landowner. Any problem areas identified during inspections will receive
additional revegetation efforts as soon as practical.
' Reclamation evaluations will be conducted in consultation with the BLM and will be
performed by aBLM-approved qualified specialist. Reclamation evaluation will
' include assessment of soil stability and revegetation success. The primary revegetation
standard that will likely be used for the pipeline corridor is total plant cover. In
addition, determination of final reclamation success will be made by comparison of the
revegetated area to adjacent lands for the following criteria:
' Post-disturbance plant cover is comparable to cover on adiacent undisturbed
lands.
' Species composition includes a high percentage of seeded species.
' Invasion of desirable plants from adjacent communities has occurred.
• Plant density is comparable to density on adjacent undisturbed areas.
1 • Ability to withstand grazing pressure is similar to adjacent areas. (In areas
where revegetation may be sensitive to grazing, American Soda may negotiate with the
' landowner to defer, reduce, or control grazing and/or to fence sensitive areas on the
ROW for 1 to 3 growing seasons until plants have become well established.)
• Reproduction from reestablished plants is evident.

1
1

P~pe4ne Peclamahon PYn p
Yankee Gulch Sodium M1LKra4 Pmjm O
' American Soda.
