1
1
3.3.6 Pipeline Corrosion Protection
' The pipelines will be protected from rust and corrosion by the pipeline FBE
coating (see Section 2.2) and, possibly, by cathodic protection. The cathodic
protection system, if used, will include impressed current rectifiers and anode
ground beds at various locations. New rectifiers, if required, will be located near
existing power distribution lines and mounted on a pole adjacent to the ROW;
associated anodes will be buried. The exact locations of these cathodic protection
devices cannot be determined until the pipelines are installed and the proper
' tests conducted. Test leads will be attached to the pipeline at fence lines, roads,
pipeline crossings, and highways to monitor the cathodic protection system.
Each set of test leads will be brought to a junction box, which will be mounted on
a short (approximately 4 feet high) post that will be installed where it will not
interfere with existing land uses.
' 3.4 Pipeline Corridor Reclamation
The final phase of construction is cleanup and reclamation. The following
' guidelines are the minimum requirements for the Yankee Gulch Project.
Specific requirements and additional details can be found in Attachment 1 -
Pipeline Reclamation Plan.
' Backfilling will be completed using the spoil previously excavated from the
trench. A berm will be formed o•rer the trench (except at road crossings, in
' drainages, and heavy use areas) to compensate for some settling. As much as
possible, the disturbed surface will be restored to the original contour of the land.
Reclamation activities will take place entirely within the established
construction ROW except where maintenance is required on adjacent existing
ROWS. Work outside the construction ROW would be cleared by the BLM or
' other landowner before being performed. Work may consist of recontouring
eroded areas and/or extending waterbars, berms, rock barriers, revegetation, and
mulching across the adjacent ROW to provide more thorough and complete
control of existing and potential erosion.
' To prevent the introduction of noxious weeds into the disturbed areas,
reclamation equipment, including seeding equipment, will be thoroughly
cleaned before entering the project area.
' 3.4.1 Erosion Control
American Soda will identify existing eroded areas during the initial RO W
' centerline survey. With the approval of the BLM or other landowner, American
Soda will correct erosion problems on the existing ROW after backfilling the

Pipeline Wormatlon Swnwry 19
' Yankee Gulch Sodrum Mirerals Pro~ttt
American SoAa.
