1
3.0 PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION
The following sections describe various important aspects of pipeline
construction, including general pipeline construction practices, environmental
protection measures, pipeline installation details, and reclamation/revegetation
' methods.
3.1 Genetal Pipeline Construction Practices
'
3.1.1 Preconstruction Requirements
t American Soda will conduct a scheduled preconstruction conference prior to
commencing construction and/or surface-disturbing activities on the ROW. The
contractor or agents involved with construction and/or any surface-disturbing
activities associated with the ROW will also attend this conference to review the
construction stipulations, including the Plan of Development that will be
' developed for the pipeline.
American Soda will provide maps or survey plats of this project to operators of
' all pipelines to be crossed or paralleled by the Yankee Gulch Project pipelines.
Determining the names and contacts for these operators will be the responsibility
of American Soda. American Soda will certify that these contacts have been
made and the required information given if requested by the BLM. In addition,
' American Soda will notify all utility companies (via the One-Call system or
similar utility notification system) with existing utility lines in the vicinity of the
' project, for field marking prior to commencement of construction.
3.1.2 Pipeline Construction Logistics
' i
ill b
l
h
C
d
"
"
onstruct
on w
a
e
ivided into three general regions or
spreads
ong t
e
pipeline: 1) the Piceance Site southeast to the Greasewood Compressor Station,
' 2) the Greasewood Compressor Station to Davis Point, and 3) Davis Point south
into the Parachute Creek valley to the Parachute Site.
' Likely laydown areas (areas used to set up equipment and temporarily store pipe)
and the spreads that they will service are shown on Figure 2-2. Actual spread
boundary locations, as described below, could vary according to contractor work
' plans and responses to weather and environmentally acceptable construction
periods. Additional laydown areas may also be required, depending on available
access.
' • Piceance North Site (Spread 1) - (mile 0 to mile 8): This spread will
' include the pipeline route from the Piceance Site southeast to the Greasewood
Compressor Station. The laydown area for this spread will be situated near the
entrance to the Piceance Site, either on the American Soda leased area or on BLM
' property near the mouth of Hatch Gulch.
Pipe4ne Womuton Summary 6
Yankee Gukh Sodium M,mrals Proiert
' American Soda.
