IN AEPLY REFER 70:
Memorandum
April 8, 1982
To: Ms. Shirley Lindsay, Office of Surface Mining,
Reclamation and Enforcement, Denver, CO
From: Energy Project Leader,
Colorado field Office, Lakewood, CO
Subject: Review of National King Coal Inc., Mine
p'~ .~ ~i
~'o p9~9
r 8?
s ~
~ ~~
_~ ~~ • .
~'L£rx-r~cR.12
We believe the impacts on wildlife associated with the mine will
be minimal. Our primary concern is the effect traffic will have
on wintering mule deer. There has been some reported wintering
Bald Eagle use in the area, however, the mine should not have
any effect on their continued use. We are not aware of any other
federally endangered species or Golden Eagle use on the lease
tract.
We have no objection to the continued operation of the mine Includ-
ing the proposed expansion. 'We appreciate the opportunity to
comment on National King Coal's Mine Plan. If you have any questions,.
please give me or Rick Krueger at our Grand Junction field office
(FTS 322-0351) a call.
~°.~P~.~
cc: National King Coal Inc.
P.O.
