DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
SUBJECT: W. R. GRACE - HAYDEN GULCH MINE, ROUTT COUNTY, APPLICATION
FOR MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a surface coal
mile south of Hayden. The applicant recently obtained two industrial well permits
for mining and dust control purposes. These wells (permit #22771F and 22772F)
should provide sufficient water for the mining operation. The Hayden Gulch Ditch,
discussed in Appendix C, page 17-2, is apparently owned by Louis M. Wyman
of Craig according to a recent Water Court action. The applicant should deter-
mine the effects of mining and pit de watering on this water right. We recommend
approval of the applicatiolt with the condition that the I3ayden Gulch Ditch be com-
pensated for any detrimental effects moused by mining.
A, Danielson
JAD/SSI-l:mvf
cc: Wesley Signs, Div.
