FROM GREG-LEWICKI FRX N0. 3036299335 Jun. 12 2001 02:21PM P4
species Diversity;
Eor a Phase IIl bond release requcst, multiple hit data (first, second, thud...) will be used
to evaluate species diversity success. For the purposes of a Phase 11 bond release
request, species diversity will be evaluated using only first-hit data. Because first hits
generally far exceed all other vegetative hits combined (especially with a herbaceous
dominated vegetation), first hit date provides a sufficient estimate of species diversity
for the purposes of Phase II studies.
Woody Stem Density:
Because a density standard does not apply to the mine site, no woody stem sampling
will be necessary.
Sample Adequacy and Statistical Evaluations:
Statistically adequate samples will be collected, with sample adequacy calculations
being based on total vegetative cover and total herbaceous production. Statistical
methods and formulas will reflect methods outlined in the Division's latest version of
the Bond Release Guidelines. Statistical tests will comply with requirements set out in
Rule 4.15.7(2)(c).
