I was not
aware of such an agreement.
To date, I have no knowledge of any monitoring project on antelope
conducted by either the CDOW or by any personnel secured by the
applicant in this area. I will try to do some checking with my
predecessors to see if they have any knowledge of such monitoring.
Based on my knowledge of the area, I would guess that there has
been no major conflict between the refuse disposal area and
antelope movements. I have also seen antelope in the refuse area
and they seem to have acclimated to the human use just fine. I
would also believe that if there was a conflict with water, the
antelope have adopted new movement routes to Cactus Reservoir. The
new water sources associated with the refuse system may also
benefit the antelope.
For this Yeason, I do not see a need for a formal monitoring
project on antelope at this time. If I hear from anyone else
within the CDOW with information contrary to this, I will let you
know as soon as possible. Thanks you for following through with
this matter.
Sincerely,
/~~ ~".
Bill de Vergie '
District Wildlife Manager
cc: Dan Prenzlow
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, James S.
