Coal Mine <br />2054 County Road 730 <br />Gunnison CO 81230 <br />Telephone 641-0076 (Home) <br />Number: 641-5331 (Ace) <br />Mine Location: The mine is 16 miles north of the town of Gunnison and is approximately 2.6 miles <br />east of Baldwin. The mine can be reached by traveling north on state highway 135 <br />for about 3 miles, then left on county road 730 up Ohio Creek for about 10 miles, <br />then 3 mile to the end of county road 6. <br />The mine has not been mining coal for the past several years and as of this <br />Activity Status: summer is in permanent reclamation, thus reverting to requiring monthly <br />inspections. Portals have been sealed to meet MSHA requirement, but will require <br />an additional 25 feet of fill to comply with the reclamation plan. <br />Permit and The mine permit area covers 80 acres of private surface with federal coal; less <br />Disturbed Area than 3.3 acres are disturbed. <br />Location of Records are currently immediately available to the public on the front seat of the <br />Records operator's Bronco. The Division is pursuing getting the records kept at the <br />Gunnison county courthouse. <br />Land Owner Ms. Barbara Stratman lives below the mine and owns the property that the mine is <br />Concern on. She has expressed concerns about the impacts of the mine on the water <br />
