Discussion regarding the parking lot buttress designed by Dames and
Moore.
• Barr will be reviewing the appropriateness of this buttress to stabilize
the parking lot and the effect of the buttress on the overall landslide.
Discussion
1. The findings from the teat well dewatering program are generally consistent
with the findings described in the Interim Report (Barr, Sept. 1997) in the
area of the substation and cross section A-A. The findings to date have not
been extrapolated to the stabilization of the larger landslide at this time.
The work plan proposed herein along with the information currently being
gathered with the proposed inclinometers will provide the basis for
presenting a comprehensive work plan for the entire landslide area.
2. The current work of lining the ponds is consistent with the Zntertm Report
(Barr, September, 1997).
3. The concept plan of stabilization proposed by HLA is consistent with the
Interim Report (Barr, September, 1997) with a modification that the stone
columns and RCC/soldier pile are located upslope near the head of the
landslide rather than at the toe of the landslide. This is reasonable based
upon the recent findings of no excess pore pressures at the toe of the
landslide. However, the toe of the landslide may still require localized
stabilization and the concepts of stone columns and/or RCC/soldier pile to
strengthen the toe will be applicable. The use of lime stabilization needs to
oszso14~s4ael.vcET
