TRUCK MOVEMENTS/MATERIAL MOVGMBNT
Historically, the significant trucking activity commences late spring, around May
and escalates and intensifies through the summer and fall; tailing off and diminishing
by the end of November. This repetitive pattern is influenced by the economy and
its relationship to work load and, of course, the weather. This past year, as
previously addressed, saw a downturn in activity. This downturn lead a direct bearing
on our trucking, relating to the quantity of material delivered.
Keeping in mind the above with regard to truck movements, little is done to alter
the normal truck traffic flow when the total truck traffic impact is minimal.
However, when trucks "BUNCH" leaving the quarry during peak traffic periods between
7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., they are specifically routed
(split north and south) to minimize traffic impact, especially during school days
involving school bus loading and unloading.
As a matter of policy, trucks are split north and south on Highway 93 during peak
trucking periods as noted above, in an effort to mitigate total impact to traffic
in the area. IC should be noted, however, that as a result of the upgrades and
improvements to Highway 93 previously addressed, our truck Craffic has had little
impact on the present traffic flow using the highway.
As a matter of course, the normal split on trucking reflects 75:~ of the trucks
going south from the quarry and 257 going north. This is consistent with the
parameters set forth by the Board of Adjustment in our Resolution.
As material requirements change, so goes trucking. There have been Heavy trucking
days as well as light trucking days. Assuming a mean hauling day of about 1300
tons, there have been days reflecting 750 tons of material moved and there have
been days reflecting 3000 tons of material moved. It should be noted that AsphalC
Paving Co. did not receive a single complaint regarding truck in[entiity, regardless
of whether we moved a little material or a lot, this past year.
•
