iii iiiiiiiii~~ii iii
•
RALSTON QUARRY ANNUAL REPORT
July 24, 1987
Start Crushing Date: May 26, 1976. The installation and fabrication of all portable
crushing equipment has been complete and remains much the same as in the past except
for the following noted crushing equipment additions:
A 988B Caterpiller wheel loader is feeding the primary crusher. Tliis loading tool
has helped minimize fugitive dust generated by one machine rapidly crossi-ng the
quarry floor feeding the primary crusher.
A triple deck 6' x 20' portable screen is being used to improve chip production.
The addition of this screen gives us better screening capacity, reducing material
tonnages Chroughout the crushing circuit and thereby reducing fugitive dust.
The major relocation of the primary Baxter Jaw Crusher eluded to in :~ lirevious annual
report has helped tremendously in expediting production, as well as reducing floor
fugitive dust. The points mentioned therein still apply. References to portability,
dust supressions, water storage and additional ground conveyor are still applicable.
This past year has seen the installation and extension of an additional ground
conveyor from the rock extraction point to Che primary jaw crusher. T'hi=: equipment
upgrade has all but eliminated fugitive dust generated from Che floor of the quarry
by wheel loaders feeding the jaw crusher. Additionally, this new facility has en-
abled production and efficiency to increase, thereby reducing overall running opera-
tions and reducing potential difficulties.
Security Fencing, Roads, Pit Configuration: Asphalt Paving Co. continues to comply
with Exhibit A of our application to the Jefferson County Board of A<Ijustments as
it relates to fencing. It should be noted, however, that the north liit boundary
fencing has been moved and reset at a location further north from tlic stripping
of our rock removal operations. This fence relocation was as indicated in the 1985
report. The entire perimeter of all the mining operation remains fenced and secured
and is subject to constant patrol to insure no breakage in the fencing perimeter.
Asphalt Paving Co. continues to maintain a hard-surfaced road from Iliglniay 93 to
the quarry pit area as well as portions of Colorado Highway 93 which are classified
as acceleration/deceleration lanes to the main entrance. It should be noted that
a new entrance road was constructed in 1985 under a Colorado Department of Highways
state road project. This new construction has been a major safety improvement.
The site distance both north and south from this entrance road has been carefully
preserved and the integrity of the acceleration/deceleration lane:; to this entrance
road has been improved. This major improvement in this entrance frc~in 93 meets all
criteria established by the State Highway Department. This new roadway ~irea will
be periodically swept in order that it may be kept reasonably clean of. dust and
that all spillage is removed from the roadway surface. The underrond cross culverts
and cattleguard areas will be cleaned and maintained to improve water drain patterns.
• Loaded trucks continue to be inspected at the main scale house before leaving the
site to minimize the loss of excessive materials that may spill from the truck on
its trip Co the designated delivery point.
