• _5_ <br />6. Harvest data will be obtained from check stations and volunteer <br />wing collection barrels. Data collected will be by zones within <br />North Park. <br />7. @quip up to 20 male and 20 female sage grouse with radios each <br />year to ascertain movement patterns and habitat use preferences in <br />response to fertilization after the 1st and 2nd growing seasons <br />following treatment. Important seasons to be investigated are <br />winter (January-March), breeding (April-May), nesting (May-June) <br />and chick rearing (June-July). <br />8. Fertilize 992 acres of sagebrush dominated rangelands with ammonium <br />~` <br />nitrate (33.5% N) at the rate of 100 lbsl of nitrogen per acre. <br />~~ i <br />Fertilizer application will be in fall (between 15 September and <br />10 October) with areas to be fertilized randomly selected. Fer- <br />tilizer will be applied on 31 strips, 528 ft. wide by 2640 ft. <br />long with each treated strip being paired with an adjacent untreated <br />strip. <br />9. All data will be tabulated, analyzed using standard statistical <br />methodology and reported quarterly and annually. Monthly summaries <br />of work completed will be available. Data collected will be repor- <br />i [ed in M.S. theses and Colorado Division of Wildlife Federal Aid <br />reports. Suitable findings would be submitted to technical jour- <br />nals for publication consideration. <br /> <br />
