Many previous inspections have documented the condition of this drainage. It will continue to be observed
on an infrequent but repeated basis until the Division terminates jurisdiction at the site.
There is no question that rill and gully erosion contributes sediment to azeas downstream. However, recent
aerial photos and ground inspection confirm that much of the reclaimed area at GEC is relatively stable and
not exhibiting erosion beyond that of adjacent, un-mined azeas. Factors such as drought and excessive
grazing aze common contributors to land instability and increased erosion. Repairs and mitigation of major
gullies and drainages would obviously be of long-term benefit. The use of the qualitative term "good" was
in the context of the entire site as a whole, specific to the season, and more related to the past notations
regazding vegetation (or lack of) and instability of the site. It was not meant to apply to isolated azeas where
known problems exist.
Yout comments aze valid and duly noted. Thank you for your comments.
