:/.
• •
Mr. Robert Liddle
June 21, 1982
Page Two
Hyder proposes that the two stipulation requirement components
derived from undesirable species (needle-and-thread grass and western
ragweed) be replaced with the group of more desirable species that have
been substituted for them in the mix. Specifically, that the combined
relative importance of smoothbrome, pubescent wheatgrass, crested wheat-
grass and Russian wildrye be substituted for one of the cool season
grass requirements and that the combined relative importance of alfalfa,
titer milkvetch and bractless stickleaf be substituted for the one forb.
All other aspects of the Division proposal would remain acceptable.
Mr. Hyder has offered more complete justification in the attached
letter and has also proposed a reorganized Table 2.04.10(4) tabulating
the data more appropriately for species diversity evaluation by vegeta-
tion type. In addition, he has proposed an additional Table 2.04.10(5)
tabulating frequency and relative importance data for the revegetation
test plots.
Coors Energy Company is in complete agreement with the recommenda-
tion of its consultant and proposes that Stipulation 11 be resolved by
the Division favorably considering these modifications. If accepted,
the species diversity evaluation process would then be compatible with
both the final revegetation seed mixture and the goal of achieving
suitable rangeland conditions for the post-mining land use of grazing.
Sincerely yours,
~~ ~~
William S.
