Mr. Darrell E. Nance -2- January 28, 1994
The old mine haul road that provides access to your property will cross the realigned stream
channel by a graveled low-water crossing; access to your property will not be impaired by our
proposed reclamation plans. The Division believes problems creating impacts to the nearby
bridge are the highest priority of all the proposed reclamation items at the mine site.
2. The driving surface of the haul road has become severely eroded due to lack of maintenance and
uncontrolled runoff resulting from a lack of maintenance of the pond embankment of pond
22-P10. The Division proposes to restore the road to provide safe passage for the landowners.
Priority has been characterized as medium.
3. Pond 22-P10 has been overtopped by past flows. The Division proposes to repair the embank-
ment for pond 22-P10 to direct runoff through the 24-inch culvert under the road. Priority has
been characterized as medium.
4. Culvert C-10 has become blocked with sediment. The roadside drainage ditch has become
eroded by uncontrolled drainage due to the blockage of culvert C-10. The Division proposes to
replace culvert C-10 with a 36-inch-diameter culvert and restore the road to provide safe
passage. Priority has been characterized as medium.
5. Pond 22-PS was not approved as a permanent pond in the approved rechunadon plan. The
Division proposes to remove the vertical section from the inlet side of the pipe that was installed
in the pond for water control, thereby converting this pipe into a culvert that will help improve
the stability of the road. Priority has been characterized as low.
6. Pond 22-P6 was not approved as a permanent pond in the approved reclamation plan. The
Division proposes to remove the vertical section from the inlet side of the pipe that was installed
in the pond for water control, thereby converting this pipe into a culvert that will help improve
the stability of the road. Priority has been characterized as low.
7. Pond 22-P4 was not approved as a permanent pond in the approved reclamation plan. The
Division proposes to make slight changes to the pond embankment to improve drainage of the
pond. The pond embankment is well vegetated with willow bushes and various reclamation
grasses. The Division proposes not to disturb the portion of the embanlanent where vegetation
has become well established. Priority has been characterized as low.
8. Diversion Ditch 22-D10 has been eroded into a gully, and has been spilled open at a location
adjacent to pond 22-P4. The Division proposes to place cuts in the ditch, to direct stream and
rainwater to the natural stream channel, and to backfill various eroded portions of the ditch.
Priority has been characterized as low.
