Gorham <br />Environmental Protection Specialist II <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />RECEIVED <br />AUG 19 2002 <br />Oi'Vision of Minerals & Geology <br />RE: Permit No. C-96-084 <br />Dear Mr: Gorham: <br />Thanks for taking the time to discuss Lorencito Coal Company's (LCC) potential soil and <br />gravel recovery project this afternoon. By this letter, LCC is hereby notifying the Division <br />that its sister company, EBA Development, is contemplating excavation of <br />approximately 20,000 cubic yards of topsoil and 30,000 cubic yards of gravel from the <br />area immediately south of its, loadout area, as shown on the attached figure. The <br />material will be sold to the asphalt contractor supplying asphalt and road base to the <br />State Highway 12 road widening project near the mine access. The asphalt contractor <br />will be operating in a facility located in the field immediately to the west of the loadout <br />area. Excavated soils will be placed in stockpiles near the asphalt contractor's site at <br />the request of the landowner, who proposes to sell or otherwise use any "excess' soil <br />not needed for reclamation of the loadout area.
