Sent 8y: CANON CITY FSC;
719 275 3019; Aug-28-04 2:1BPM; Page 3
The conclusion as to whether the Shanta soil area is irrigable by flood irrigation is
debatable. As.l have already noted the site is a small acreage, too small to
realistically justify construction of an irrigation system. A major item is the lack of an
existing water right for the land. The nearby stream, Oak Greek,ls already over
appropriated. There is realistically no irrigation water available. Even existing water
rights (Oak Creek} dating 1918 are now much too junior to assure dependable
irrigation uses.
If irrigation water was available and the site was much larger in area. I believe the
presently restored soil conditions would now be suitable for flood irrigation farming.
If additional information is needed, contact this office at the above phone number.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~
Roy per
Soil anservationist
Enclosures: Maps (2}
Solis descriptions
CONSERVATION -DEVELOPMENT -SELF-GOVERNMENT
E-mail address: janet.bamhart~co.nacdnet.net
