Mr. Tony Waldron
Mined Land Reclamation Division
February 26, 1990
Page 2
lifts. As shown in Exhibit 13 of the 1987 Annual Reclamation
Report, desirable, weathered overburden material exists in the
Upper X and Lower X truck/shovel lifts where those lifts are near
the surface at outcrop or in drainages. Those areas of weathered
Upper X and Lower X are typically utilized as ramp areas and will
be sampled prior to use at final grade.
With a commitment to selectively utilize weathered
material in the Upper Y and Lower Y truck/shovel lifts for final
grade surfaces, sampling of the unweathered Upper X and Lower X
lifts no longer serves any practicable purpose. Due to the above,
Colowyo requests that the requirement to sample the Upper X and
Lower X truck/shovel lifts be deleted from the Overburden
Monitoring Program.
This request for modification will be applicable to the
multiple seam pit only. No change is anticipated in the single
seam operation in Section 11.
If you have any questions or require additional
information, please contact me at your convenience.
Sincerely,
~~
Ed Moyer
Sr. Geological Engineer
EM/kh
Attachment
cc: R.
