(Map III)
-NORTH ORPHAN PIT - It would be GEC's intention to reclaim this
pit and reseed it by 1982 if it is possible; with limited equipt-
ment and manpower in handling completely the reclamation work for
"prospecting pit" in the last half of 1981 as an urgent plan for
GEC, which already created a tension in its mining capability.
If the timing for reclamation of this pit is not as critical as
the "prospecting pit", GEC would like to start the reclamation by
1982 as proposed on the Table I. However, should a third party
or company be interested in using this specific pit for a waste
dump, such as Newlin Creek or Dorchester, the reclamation sche-
dule can be speeded up significantly under which a mutual bene
ficial program can be arranged for both parties as necessary.
-ORPHAN PIT- As Table I indicates, this pit will start backfilling
in 1982 and complete the reclamation by 1983, the posting contours
will approximate pre-mining contours.
-THUMB AREA- Table I addresses this pit has been mined and back-
filled in the year of 1980 as planned. As a matter of fact,
this area has been used for temporary overburden stockpile, the
excess spoil material were coming from the box cut of South pit.
(Existing;pit)GEC Reclamation Plan states that these excess spoil
material will be redistributed for last open pit backfilling.
- PHASE I AND PHASE II- GEC Minerals, Inc. does not plan to mine
those areas as proposed. The details of the statement will be
in New Application Review Section.
NEW APPLICATION REVIEW
This new application for surface mining and reclamation plan has
been originally prepared fora term of five (5) years from 1981
through 1985. Detailed mineable information was not available
at the time this application was prepared because closely-spaced
drilling programs have not been completed over the contiguous
and proposed land areas for the entire five (5) year mining
period. A recent revision to incorporate mining information with
current exploration drilling information indicates that one of
the major strippable coal has been mined out by previous under-
ground operations and there are not enough strippable coal ava#lable
