May 27, 1992: The annual embankment inspection was <br />conducted. Skies were cloudy and temperatures in the <br />60's° F. The mine was wet and muddy at the time of <br />inspection; it had rained that day and numerous rain <br />showers had occurred during the previous week. <br />P. June 10, 1993: The annual embankment inspection was <br />conducted. Skies were clear and the temperature was in <br />the 70's° F. Prior to today, afternoon showers had become <br />commonplace for several days. The mine was relatively <br />dry. <br />Q. June 8, 1994: The annual embankment inspection was <br />conducted. Skies were clear and the temperature was in <br />the low 70's° F. Recent dry weather had dried out most of <br />the mine site ephemeral drainages, including this one. <br />R. June 28, 1995: The annual embankment inspection was <br />conducted. Skies were partly cloudy and the temperature <br />was in the 70's° F. The mine was relatively dry at the <br />time of inspection, and no rain had fallen in over 10 <br />days. <br />S. June 5, 1996: The annual embankment inspection was <br />conducted. Skies were partly cloudy and the temperature <br />was in the 70's° F. The mine was relatively dry at the <br />time of inspection, but a slight rain had fallen for 10 <br />minutes approximately a half hour before the inspection <br />was conducted. <br />T. June 27, 1997: The annual embankment inspection was <br />conducted. Skies were partly cloudy and the temperature <br />was in the 70's° F. The mine was relatively dry at the <br />time of inspection, and no rain had fallen in the last <br />week. <br />II. Inspection (06/27/97) <br />A. Crest of Embankment <br />The crest of the embankment is a 60-foot wide roadway <br />used for coal haulage. No signs of stress (cracks) were <br />noticed during the inspection of the crest. The roadway <br />and side ditches are well maintained. Safety berms are in <br />place. The side ditches are clean and functional but <br />could use some maintenance.
