("Beltramo") in accordance with 37-80-120 C.R.S. The required fee of
$217 has been paid to cover the plan year April 1, 2001 through March 31, 2002.
According to information submitted, no ground water was exposed prior to January 1,
1981. It is anticipate he wet mining operation at this site will expose a water surface area
no larger than one acre. It is anticipated that the pit will be back-filled upon completion of mining
operations so that, when the reclamation process is completed, there will be no post-mining
depletions. A permanent augmentation plan is, therefore, not required. Applicant has secured a
bond (DMG Bond No. 5998645) in the amount of$75,000 to provide for reclamation of the site
and back-filling of the pit in the event the requirements of the reclamation permit are not
completed.
According to information submitted, this year's anticipated annual depletion to the
Arkansas River from the Beltramo Mine Pit will be approximately 8.93 acre-feet, including 3.34
acre-feet of net evaporation from the exposed groundwater surface and 5.59 acre-feet for
operations (3.84 acre-feet lost in product and 1.75 acre-feet for dust control) as summarized on
your Table 3 (copy attached). The Beltramo Mine Pit will be approximately 2,200 feet from the
Arkansas River, and you have provided a monthly schedule of lagged depletions to the river,
together with a schedule of replacement requirements totaling 9 acre-feet per year (see Table 3).
The proposed source of replacement water for this substitute water supply plan is 9 acre-
feet of transmountain or other fully consumable water obtained from the Arkansas Groundwater
Users Association (AGUA). It is assumed that no transit losses will be charged, because the point
of replacement will be at or below the point of depletion to the Arkansas River, but this assumption
is subject to review by the Division 2 Engineer.
