t
'~~
Field samPlin~ to est2zblish ref erence area comparability
I still have not heard from t1. Savage, NQ.It, about the sampling plans, but need
to proceed with field work in early August. If MLR requires revision of
methods, xe may have to obtain additional information on the area to b. mined.
Otherxise, data obtained in early August should be enough to complete the
reclamation plan. I expect to have that addition to you in August.
Rain t~au~e
Precipitation measured t.o date:
es
March 31 Accumulated over xinter, since
8/?_5/80, but prrobably missed a
lot of the snow .................. 3.7 ---
` April 29 Since 3/31 ........ ...
............ 0.83 0.03
May 4 hlostly on~5/3 ••••.••••••••••~•••. 1.04 1.87
May 8 All on 5/6 and 5/7 ............... 0.71 2.58
May 18 Rained for 3 days ................ 3.13 5.71
May 28 All on 5/27 •• .................... 0.94 6.65
June 12 Since 5/28 ....................... 0.80 7.45
July 31 Mostly on 7~2G 1.05 S.iO
Daily attention xould provide a better record of precipitation than I can
obtain on infrequent visits, especially over xinter. If you xish to maintain
a precipitation record, you should consider moving the rain gauge to the
headquarters area where someone can be assigned the duty. Also, you might
want to consider getting a scale for weighing the can in xinter, or even
going to an automatic recording type. Plea.;e let me knox if I can be of
further assistance.
Sincerely,
~ t dr ;!-`
Don Hyder
~>;~~~~r~1~~~~~1
DEC 2'..> 1981
f~Jl!\Er~D LA28 RECLAl4P.110'J
C::!.~,.
