The property is situated on the top of a <br />weathered mesa that is volcanic in origin. This operation is not <br />expected to impact water resources in the area in any manner. <br />Groundwater in the area is localized in nature and usually the <br />result of perched lenses of water due to the presence of volcanic <br />clays. There is no alluvial aquifer on this property that feeds <br />Cherry Creek. None of the boreholes drilled on the property <br />during testing showed any signs of groundwater. <br />The operation will not impound surface or groundwater for storage <br />or beneficial use purposes. Any impoundment or diversion caused <br />would be incidental to mining or associated with erosion control <br />practices on site. Any impoundment would be temporary and ninor <br />in nature, and would cause no detrimental effect to area surface <br />or groundwater. There will be no impact to water rights. <br />Surface drainage from the property feeds several minor <br />tributaries of Cherry Creek. These tributaries are all ephemeral <br />in nature. The proposed mining plan will not disturb existing <br />waterways, nor will it increase or decrease surface runoff. An <br />erosion control plan will be implemented to reduce sediment <br />discharge from the property to these tributaries. This plan will <br />include berming of disturbed areas to allow sediment to settle <br />out during storms, keeping stockpiles out of waterways, and <br />reseeding reclaimed areas as soon as practicable. Other erosion <br />control measures will be implemented as indicated in the Exhibit <br />E, Reclamation Plan. <br />There will be a haul road crossing of Millow Creek approximately <br />one-half mile east of Ridge Road. The Army Corps of Engineers <br />has been contacted regarding this crossing and has determined <br />that the proposed work is authorized by a Nationwide Permit. The <br />Army Corps' correspondence is attached with these Exhibit G <br />materials. The crossing has been designed to convey up to 5- <br />year storm event peak flows with culverts. Creek flows greater <br />than the 5-year storm event peak are designed to overtop the road <br />as a low-water crossing. <br />G-1 <br /> <br />
