(Deposition of Ron K. Thompson) G
• •
1 Q. This first north, do you think that's
r~._ 2 completely full of water?
3 A. I believe it is.
4 Q. From top to bottom?
5 A. Yes.
6 Q. If we core drilled that from the top
7 would we be able to tell the extent of that shaft,
8 as opposed to the other formation lying on the
9 south side of the shaft?
10 A. If you core drilled and hit the mine
11 workings, yes.
12 MR. BAILEY: Was that the

~~-' 13 question?
14 Q. Once the drilling progressed to a
15 certain point we would get water instead of"dirt or
16 rocks?
17 A. Well, what would happen, the driller
18 would be drilling, would either be drilling fluid
19 or air bringing the cuttings back up to the surface
20 and as soon as you hit avoid, underground or
21 cavern, he would lose his circulation and he would
22 know that immediately. Also he maintains a certain
23 downward pressure to penetrate the rock and when
,~+ 24
i you hit an opening or void the drill will jump.
25 Q. It will be free?
EARL E.
