6. Powerlines, Power Poles and Guy Tdires
The portions of the electrical power distribution system for the
Sunlight mine which are to be removed by the CONTRACTOR are shown
on drawing sheets 1 and 2 of 9. Each drawing specifies which pole
and wire segments are to be removed, and which segments are to
remain in place. Removal of power and/or light poles shall include
the above grade portion of the wood pole or pole pairs, all
crossbars, braces, hardware, fixtures, other electrical components,
guy wires, and any other wires, cables, conduit, or other
materials affixed to the pole. Removal of the powerline wires or
cable shall include all wires or cable supported on, affixed to,
or otherwise connected to or associated with the powerline segment
specified for removal on the above referenced drawings. Poles
which can be accessed with appropriate equipment can be pulled out
intact if desired, otherwise the pole(s) shall be removed by
cutting at a maximum height of 4 inches above the existing ground
surface. All poles and wires located in undisturbed areas,
disturbed areas where shrub vegetation has become well established,
orareas where any earthwork is necessary in order to provide
mobile equipment access shall be removed without the use of any
equipment which will disturb the existing land surface or cause
damage to existing shrub vegetation. Non-salvaged items covered
under this specification shall be disposed of either by backstowing
within the inclined mine entry at a minimum distance of 50 ft. from
the surface, or by hauling to an approved landfill operation. The
main powerline pole containing the transformers shall be left in
place and not disturbed in any way; only the wires leading from the
main line to the mine and the remaining wires and poles indicated on
the attached drawings are to be removed. The CONTRACTOR is
responsible for contacting the utility company to ensure that power
to the mine has been disconnected and that none of the lines to be
removed are electrified.
4.3 Measurement and Payment
No measurement for payment shall be made for structural and electrical
utilities demolition and removal. Payment shall be for the lump sum bid
price established on the Bid Schedule for each bid item listed. The
price bid shall include all of the CONTRACTOR`S cost of whatever nature
to provide complete structural demolition and removal in accordance with
the plans and specifications, including demolition or dismantlement,
complete removal from the project site if salvaged, and on-site
underground disposal or hauling to and dumping in an approved landfill
site.
/ern
4843F
- 11 -
