I got the impression that they will
not provide a written response to this letter, so I would like to
document what we discussed as it pertains to the nine questions
posed in the May 6th letter.
1. TerraMatrix forwarded the current base topography map for the
mine area. This map will assist me in completing the bond
estimate; however, they still need to update Maps 8 and 28
with the current disturbed boundary as shown on Map 18.
2. Tom Leidich informed me that the fan is located adjacent to
the road and no additional access from the main road was
constructed.
3. Tom Leidich stated that there is no topsoil stockpile at the
South Mine fan site. He also said that the majority of this
area has been reclaimed. All that is required is removing the
fan structure and support and the alternative sediment control
structures (i.e. silt fence).
4. Tom Leidich stated that the east loadout disturbance is only
7.1 acres, the west loadout disturbance is 8 acres, the
facilities disturbance is 19.8 acres, and the pond 3 and 4
disturbance is around 6.5 acres. He said these areas are
documented on page 2.05.3-60R of the permit. He said at the
loadout nothing south of the tracks is disturbed. I will
reconfirm these acreages for topsoil replacement depths.
I would still recommend that you encourage Southfield to
complete a topsoil survey to confirm the volume in each pile.
5. Tom Leidich stated that they are currently working on a new
