Peabody Coal Company has committed to annually monitoring the topography of
the reclaimed portions of the Seneca II Mine. Peabody Coal Company has
committed to notifying the Division if significant deviations in the proposed
post-mining topography are identified during the monitoring process. In
addition, Peabody Coal Company has committed to submitting this topographic
map, which will 6e generated by photogrametric methods, to the Division on an
annual basis.
Contemporaneous Reclamation
Peabody Coal Company has indicated in the application for permit renewal that
rough backfilling and grading at the Seneca II Mine will be completed within
180 days following coal removal and will not be more than four spoil ridges
behind the active pit.
With the continued acceptance of the above stipulation, the operation is in
compliance with the requirements of this section.
XVIII.
Non-Coal Processing Waste - Rul
Peabody Coal Company does not have any coal processing facilities at Seneca II
Mine since coal is direct hauled from the mine to the Hayden Power Plant.
Therefore, no coal processing waste will be generated.
Non-coal waste is buried in the solid waste disposal site of the Wadge West
Pit (Exhibit 12-2 ). Approximately twenty (20) feet of overburden was
backfilled into the bottom of this old pit prior to any waste disposal to
elevate the disposal area above the anticipated water table surface and
exposed coal seam. A minimum of eight (8) feet of overburden material will be
backfilled on top of the completed waste disposal site with durable rock
material placed in the drainage on the southwest side of the site to minimize
surface water erosion potential. The area will then be topsoiled and
reclaimed similar to other disturbed sites of Seneca II Mine.
The operation is in compliance with the requirements of this section.
XIX. Mine Facilities, Coal Handling Structures, Support Facilities -
Information pertaining to surface facilities at the Seneca II Mine is
presented in Volume II, Tab 12, pages 12-17 to 12-27 and in Exhibit 12-2 of
the permit renewal application. The facilities located at the Seneca II Mine
site include an office complex, equipment repair shop, truck wash facilities,
non-coal waste disposal area, and explosives storage facilities.
Coal is loaded into haul trucks at the active pit areas and hauled directly to
the Hayden Power Plant. Therefore, no coal handling facilities have been or
are proposed to be constructed at the mine.
The operation is in compliance with the requirements of this section.
-40-
