- ~ ~~
CASTLE CONCRETE COMPP.77Y
Application No. 77-210
(Snyder Quarry)
Information Furnished Per Staff Questions with Questions repeated
herein:
Question #1--Include access road as affected land,
Answer #1--We had previously stated that access road to the mine
would include an additional 13 acres of affected land. This was
inaccurate because the entire access road would not be reclaimed.
The access road to this mine, as it presently exists, is used by the i
adjacent land owners. Therefore, these roads will remain after
mining operations cease. We had included in the total 27 acres of
disturbed land approximately 2 acres of haul road adjacent to the i
mine in our reclamation phase. ;~
.i
Question #2--Limit permit to area of surface disturbance. ~,
Answer #2--The open land, as it now exists, measures a fraction
under 27 acres of land. Overspills that may occur in the building
of the berm and possible future requirements for air vents away from
the open land should be included in this 27 acres.
Question #3--Give a detailed explanation of the end land use for
reclamation.
Answer #3--Because of the projected operating period, "reclamation"
should be considered as occurring in two (2) distinct stages.
The initial stage .contemplates completion of the "sight-and-sound"
berm, running easterly and westerly along the southern tip of the
operation. For practical purposes, and for a realistic view, the
treatment which the applicant accords the berm will be evident,
and the only evident event, for the next 50 to 100 years.
The berm will be brought to full heigkit as soon as commercial con-
ditions allow with materials from within the worksite, and topped and
faced with the stored topsoils obtained from the initial clearing.
After appropriate fertilization, vegetation growth will be so placed
and planned as to minimize the ability of a non-trespasser readily
to identify the worksite upon an eye-scan of this area.
"End-use". Inevitable technological developments, societal concepts
and needs will occur between the granting of permit and reaching the
-1-
