Oo,,•,s•cr, the ,,~i1 studir:; in A}q,!»rlix 1, r;i.plav field
studies that show a 1.3 inch rni.nfall event only penetrated 26 inches into the
sand, Based on the above prrd.ic•tions, the Division finds that the recharge
rate will not be signif-icantly chanyec7 by the operation. Any potential increase
in the recharge rate should not significantly affect the hydrologic balance
provided the water quality predictions are sound. The ground water monitoring
program is designed to identify any impacts to the hydrologic balance.
Mani toting:
Baseline water quality monitoring was first~cohducted in 1978 in preparation
of the original Coors Kennesburg mine application. In October Of 1980, an
extensive monitoring program was initiated to provide a more deCailed set of
data in which future monitoring data could be compared. A year of baseline
data has now been collected.
The applicant proposes to monitor ground water using the present locations,
frequency, and chemical parameters approved for the baseline data collection.
After reviewing the applicants haseline data, ongoing monitoring data, and
statement of probable hydrologic consequences ttre Division feels that the
monitoring plan can be modified to better verify the applicants predictions
and eliminate non-essential monitoring. Thc. Division will therefore stipulate
the following monitoring program.
WATER hfONITORZNG REQUIREFfENTS:
Table 1 Table 2
Location LD. JJO.
