<br />Introduction <br />Coors Energy Company filed an applicatior, on February 24, 1981, to continue <br />surface coal mining operations at the Coors Kennesburo mine undez the Colorado <br />Permanent Regulatory Program. The mine is 1+ocateB approximately five miles <br />north of Xeenesburg, Colorado, in sections 25,26,35 and 36, T3N, R64W. <br />During the five year permit term approximately 421 acres will be disturbed <br />by the operation. <br />Coors has an existing permit 79-88 pursuant to C.R.S. 1973, 34-32-101, <br />site preparation has been undezway for approximately one and one-half »ears <br />The opening of the first box cut begar, in Auoust of 1981, with'the intent <br />of extracting the number 7 coal seam of the Laramie Formation. <br />The Division, with assistance from other State agencies, developed the <br />Preliminary Adequacy Review letter which was sent to the company on April 23, <br />1982. .Numerous contacts were made in July and Auqust of 1982 to resolve the <br />remaining problems encountered in our technical review of the application. <br />
