Introduction
Coors Energy Company filed an applicatior, on February 24, 1981, to continue
surface coal mining operations at the Coors Kennesburo mine undez the Colorado
Permanent Regulatory Program. The mine is 1+ocateB approximately five miles
north of Xeenesburg, Colorado, in sections 25,26,35 and 36, T3N, R64W.
During the five year permit term approximately 421 acres will be disturbed
by the operation.
Coors has an existing permit 79-88 pursuant to C.R.S. 1973, 34-32-101,
site preparation has been undezway for approximately one and one-half »ears
The opening of the first box cut begar, in Auoust of 1981, with'the intent
of extracting the number 7 coal seam of the Laramie Formation.
The Division, with assistance from other State agencies, developed the
Preliminary Adequacy Review letter which was sent to the company on April 23,
1982. .Numerous contacts were made in July and Auqust of 1982 to resolve the
remaining problems encountered in our technical review of the application.
