Response to Stipulation No. 16
Road Reclamation Plan - Pit No. 1 Haul Road
The existing haul road will be modified by removal of the
left side of the road as shown on the attached cross sections,
narrowing the road to an approximate 12' width which will
be the equivalent of the "Jeep Trail" access road prior
to mining as shown on the U.S.G.S. Map. The approximate
existing grade will be retained.
The road surface will retain a cross slope to the right
side to direct surface runoff to the roadside ditch in
cut sections. In fill sections the existing berm on
the right side will be modified by decreasing its size
with an approximate height of 1' being retained to prevent
surface runoff over the fill slope and to divert this flow
to t~cent cut section. Fill outslopes will be graded
to vr2h slope or flatter.
The material removed will be uniformly distributed along
the toe of the slope on the left side of the road and will
be graded to blend into the original contours.
The topsoil will be removed from the slopes prior to the
beginning of road removal operations and will be placed in
temporary stockpiles on the left side of the road until
grading operations are complete at which time it will be
uniformly redistributed over the entire disturbed area
with seeding and mulching operations immediately following
to implement revegetation.
As the adjacent pit areas have been backfilled and reclaimed
to the approximate original contour with no shortage of
material, the amount of material left in the narrowed road
base will not cause a shortage of material elsewhere in
the permit area.
