After the coal from the first cut is removed the worked-out cut is backfilled with material from the second cut proceeding in this manner to the last cut in the pit which is backfilled with the material stored in overburden stockpile 4110 and excavation from the first cut in pit 414. Then the balance of the material wxcavated from this first cut is moved to temporary overburden stockpile 418. After the coal from this cut is removed the worked oiit cut is backfilled with material from the second cut proceeding in this manner to the last cut which is backfilled with the material stored in overburden stockpiles 418 and 119. The projected backfill material balance deficit in pit 114 is 55,100 c.y. which will result in the entire backfilled pit area being an average of 0.5' lower than the original premining contour and is a negiligble difference. Calculations are as follows: 55,100 c. x 27 0,5' 6 .5 ac x 5 As the cuts vary in size, excess material not needed to backfill the cut behind will be temporarily stored on the cut area ahead with the cumulative balance as shown in corrected Table V-1 descreasing to balance with the last cut in each pit. As there are no permanent overburden stockpiles and the pit areas are reclaimed to the approximate original contour with sediment ponds and haul roads being removed there is no change in the post- mining topography from the premining topography with the exception of the haul road to Pit $1 which is being reduced to trail width as outlined in the response to stipulation No. 16 with the location being shown on the corrected post-mining topographic map V-4.
