EAST MINE -SHOP BENCH
BRL requested bond release for structural demolition of the facilities structures at the shop bench. The
concrete structures were not included in the bond release request. The superstructures for the shop,
warehouse, tire shop, loading bin and firehouse were demolished and either removed from the site for
salvage or buried in acounty-approved pit at the back of the shop bench. The bottom concrete-encased
portion of the 2000 ton surge bin remains. Concrete walls, floors, pavement and footings remain,
including the loading dock wall, the solid waste storage bin and the sediment trap.
EAST MINE -TRANSFER BENCH
BRL requested bond release for structural demolition, with the exception of concrete removal, for the
facility structures at the transfer bench level. The transfer tower # 1 superstructure and the overland
conveyor were demolished and either salvaged or buried on site in acounty-approved pit on the shop
bench or on the office level bench. One concrete floor and one concrete footing remain. The guard rail
and fire hydrant also remain.
EAST MINE -SUBSTATION BENCH
BRL did not request bond release for any reclamation work at this site. The substation superstructure,
concrete slabs and walls and the fence remain.
EAST MINE -OFFICE BENCH
BRL requested bond release for structural demolition, removal of belt structures, removal of fuel storage
barrels and sealing of portals at the office level. Concrete items were not included in the bond release
request. The superstructures for the bath house and fuel station, the steel master control center and the on-
grade and overland conveyors were demolished. Some of this superstructure material was removed offsite
for salvage and some was buried in two county-approved pits, now covered with soil, located on the
office bench. Concrete footings and floors, the solid waste storage bin, the concrete block motor control
building and the concrete block rock dust building remain on site. The concrete floor and footings of the
fuel station remain, although the various tanks were removed. At the time of the inspection, the operator
was removing the last of the oil from this facility. The three portal adits were backfilled with 50 feet of
non-combustible material, compacted against a concrete block wall seal placed to the rear.
EAST MINE -FAN BENCH
In their bond release submittal, BRL requested bond release for the final sealing of the two ventilation
shafts on the fan bench level. The two shafts have been filled but have not been capped. Therefore, the
Division can not release the associated bond costs for this reclamation task until the two shafts have been
capped appropriately. No bond release for structural demolition at this level was requested by BRL.
EAST MINE -MISCELLANEOUS
One ofthe fire hydrants was dismantled and removed off-site. Six of the original seven fire hydrants
remain to be dismantled, as well as the road guardrails. The operator did not request any bond release for
items on the fan bench level or for any of the mine site culverts.
The operator has removed a considerable amount of mining machinery from the East Mine benches.
Credit for this cleanup will be accounted for in the bond release.
