• ~ •
Sediment Control System
/` ,
/~i
The sediment control system to be implemented will include an
appropriate combination of a sedimentation pond, interceptor
and diversion ditches. The structures will be sized to
safely pass the 10 year 29 hour precipitation event. The
design calculations are presented in an attachment hereto and
depicted on the map, also attached hereto.
Topsoil
The Division is concerned that removal and segregation of the
topsoil and subsoil will not be possible during this time of
the year due to ground freezing. The fact that the soils are
relatively sandy, tend to be dryer this time of the year, and
the geographical location of the mine property should prevent
significant ground freezing and the resultant inability to
remove and segregate such materials. In addition, a question
arose as to the need to stockpile low S.A.R, overburden in
the area of the test pit operations. Field investigations
conducted on December 17, 1981 in conjunction with a
representative of the Division indicates that subsoil exists
in sufficient amounts to preclude the necessity to stockpile
low S.A.R. overburden.
Dwelling Buffer Zone
The matter of the 300 feet buffer zone on the Gallegos
dwelling, identified as Tract 17, in Volume 4, Exhibit 1 has
not been resolved at this time. As this matter is resolved,
we will inform the Division.
This should adequately address the concerns raised during our
above referenced conversation,
If you wish to discuss these matters further, please don't
hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
A~~'lnf ~~-2~CTi/
Rade H.
