Test Pit
Dear Fred:
The purpose of this letter is to confirm our telephone
conversation of December 10, 1981 and address the additional
items the Division requested relative to the operation of the
test pit.
First, you confirmed that the Division is not opposed to the
commencement of activities at the mine site for 'the purposes
of securing coal for a test burn. Further, if problems
surface at some later date as a result of the activities, the
alternative is to apply such activities to the requirements
of 2.02.3 General Requirements: Exploration Involving Removal
of PAOre than 250 Tons of Coal.
Second, the Division is requesting some additional
information in a number of areas. The nature of the
information requested and the response for each is presented
below:
Bonding
The Division is concerned that. the test pit operations are
covered by an adequate form of surety. In answer to the
concern, the Division is in receipt of an approved bond in
the amount of $226,000.00, Bond #195 39042BCA in accordance
with the terms of Colorado Coal Mining Company's approved
permit. Therefore, this amount of bond should be more than
sufficient to cover the test pit operations.
