application when plants are dormant Do not make application after bud break
or when plants are showing signs of active growth. Do no[ make application
when snow or water prevents applying BANVEL m [he ground Tine. Refer [o
txing and Applications above m this section for method of preparing oil-in-
water emulsion. Ezample for making approximately 2 gallons of a LO-OIL spay
solution mixmre: combine 1'h gallons water plus 1 ounce emulsifier plus 1 pint
BANVEL plus 2'& pints of No. 2 diesel fuel. Adjust amounts of materials used
proportionately [o the amount of final spmy solution desired. Do not exceed 8
gallons of spmy solution mix applied per acre per year.
CONSERVATION RESERVE PROGRAM (CRP) ACRES
BAIIVEL is recommended for use on both newly seeded and esmblished grasses
grown in Conservation Reserve or Federal Set-Aside Progams.
Observe al] precautions, mixing and application directions.
BANVEL treatment will injure or may kill alfalfa, clovers, lespede~a, wild winter
peas, vetch, and other legumes.
Agriculmally approved surfactants may be added [o [he spay mixmre to improve
postemergence weed control, particularly in dry growing conditions.
Do not use adjuvants containing penetrants such as petroleum based oils after
grass emergence on newly seeded gasses.
NEWLY SEEDED AREAS
BANV EL may be applied either preplant orpostemergence to newly seeded grasses
or small gains such as barley, oats, rye, sudangass, wheat, or other gain species
grown as a cover crop. Postemergence applications may be made after seedling
gasses exceed [he 3-leaf stage. Rates of BANVEL greater than 1 pint per treated
acre may severely injure newly seeded gasses. Preplan[ applications-injury to
new seedlings may occur if intervals between application and gals planting is
less than 45 days per pint of BANVEL per treated acre West of the Mississippi
River or 20 days per pint East of the Mississippi River.
ESTABLISHED GRASS STANDS
Esmblished grass stands are perennial grasses planted one orroore seasonsprior to
treatment Certain species: bentgass, carpetgass, smooth brome, buffalograss or
St. Augustine gass maybe injured when treated with BANVEL at ales exceeding
1 pint per treated acre.
WEEDS CONTROLLED
BANVEL, when applied at recommended ales, will control many annual and
biennial weeds and provide control or suppression of many perennial weeds.
(Refer to GENERAL WEED LIST).
RATES AND TIMINGS
pplication rotes and timing of BANVEL treatment are given below. Use the
igher ate of the ate ange when vegetation is either dense or roll, or when weeds
TANK MIX TREATMENTS
To control grosses and additional broadleaf weeds, BANVEL may be tank mixed
with other herbicides registered for use in Conservation Reserve Programs such
as 2,4-D, glyphosate (Roundup), paaquat (Gamoxone), metsulfuron (Ally) and
others.
IMPORTANT
Observe all precautions. Read and follow mixing and application instme[ions.
To avoid injury m newly seeded gasses, application of BANVEL should be
delayed until after [he second mowing. Furthermore, application rates in ezcess of
1 pint ('/z Ib. a.i.) per treated acre may cause noticeable smndng or discoloa[ion
of sensitive gass species such as bentgass, catpetgmss, buffalogass, and St.
Augustine grass.
In areas where roots of sensitive plants extend, do no[ apply in excess of a pint (4e
16. a.i.) of BANVEL per treated acre on coarse texmred (sandy-type) soils, or in
excess of 4z pint ('/, lb. a.i.) per treated acre on fine texmred (clayey-type) soils.
Do not make repeat applications m these areas for 30 days and until previous
applications of BANVEL have been activated in the soil by min or irrigation.
WEEDS CONTROLLED
BANVEL, when applied at recommended ales, will give control of many AN-
NUAL, BIENNIAL, and noted (") PERENNIAL broadleaf weeds commonly
found in mrf. BANVEL will also give growth suppression of many other listed
PERENNIAL broadleaf weeds and WOODY brash and vine species. (Refer to
GENERAL WEED LIST).
MIXING AND APPLICATION
Apply 30 to 200 gallons of diluted spay per treated acre (3 qts. to 4 a gals. per
1,000 sq. fl.), depending on density or height of weeds treated and on [he type
of equipment used.
