II. PROJECT WORK DESCRIPTION <br />Project Summary <br />The Hawk's Nest mine site has been ordered to be reclaimed by the Colorado Department <br />of Natural Resources, Mined Land Reclamation Board (the Board). The operator of the <br />mine failed to comply with regulatory requirements for an extended period of time, resulting <br />in revocation of the mining permit and forfeiture of the reclamation performance bond <br />being held by the Division of Minerals and Geology (the Division). The Board has directed <br />the Office of Mined Land Reclamation; Coal Regulatory Section of the Division to secure <br />reclamation of the site using funds obtained from the forfeited performance bond. <br />The Hawk's Nest mining operation is comprised of 4 sepazate disturbed areas: 1) East mine <br />area; 2) West mine area; 3) Silo area; and 4) Refuse disposal area. Reclamation work to <br />be accomplished under this contract is limited primarily to the Coal Silo area. Project work <br />will involve demolishing and removing the two (2) coal silos and the adjacent conveyor <br />system and truck dump scale, creating a borrow area for the demolished silos, and burying <br />the concrete. <br />Adequate right-of-way needed for access to the project area and within the working area <br />limits specified for this project have been acquired by or on behalf of the OWNER. <br />The silo azea is located within the Sl/2 of Section 10, T13S, R90W along old State Highway <br />133. <br />Project Safety <br />The Coal Silos may contain coal residue and dust that may be hazardous during demolition <br />operations. The CONTRACTOR shall take necessary steps and precaution measures to <br />ensure safety during blasting procedures. Project safety is of utmost importance, and any <br />work deemed unsafe by the PROJECT MANAGER shall be halted immediately. <br />5 <br />
