Limited extraction was proposed beneath the valleys
of the Middle and North Thompson Creeks, as well as the
associated alluvial deposits. County Road 108 and all
potentially affected mine surface facilities were also to be
protected through utilization of the limited extraction control
plan. A subsidence monitoring program was proposed to verify the
projections of anticipated subsidence. In order for the Division
to deem the subsidence control plan to be in compliance with the
regulatory requirements the Division imposed Stipulation No. 9
which directed Snowmass Coal Company to install subsidence
monumentation above any underground workings within the limited
extraction areas one month prior to undermining. These
subsidence monuments were also to be surveyed one month prior to
undermining. The areas to be protected by this monitoring plan
were never undermined and since the mine has been closed and
permanently reclaimed, this stipulation is no longer in effect.
1 Categories of Mining - Rules 2.06. 4.22. 4.23. 4.26
None of these special categories of mining are applicable to the
operation.
Miscellaneous Com liance - Rules 2.05.6(5), 4.01, 4.02, 4.12,
an
No revision to this section is requried.
ration on Land Subject to Limitations or Prohibitions -
~~ a~
The operation is not included within any areas designated
unsuitable for surface coal mining operations. Therefore, the
operation is in compliance with requirements of this section.
-10-
