Banks and Gesso, LLC <br />will spread topsoil stripped from one area directly on other areas being con- <br />currently reclaimed. <br />Since the site will be reclaimed as water storage reservoirs, excess topsoil will be <br />sold and weathered shale materials excavated from the pit floor will be utilized as <br />slope backfill and compacted clay liner materials, whenever possible. <br />Water Diversions and Impoundments <br />Stormwater from all areas of surface disturbance will be directed toward the <br />mine's de-watering systems, by grading and shallow ditches. De-watering <br />ditches on the new mining area will be connected to the existing de-watering <br />system on the adjacent property to the north. After the water is clarified and the <br />sediments collected, the water will be discharged to the South Platte River with <br />the existing pumps. A CPDES discharge permit for the de-watering operations <br />already exists. Aggregate process water systems are included at the currently <br />permitted northern parcel A-1, and will be separate from the de-watering and <br />Stormwater systems. <br />De-watering quantities will increase as the initial excavation enlarges, before the <br />slurry wall and clay liners are constructed. The quantities of groundwater <br />pumped should then decrease. When the final portions of the compacted clay <br />!finer are completed in the northern mining areas, the de-watering quantities will <br />again decrease and continue to do so until the residual groundwater in the <br />' Brighton Mine Conditional Use Permit - 20007WD <br />CAMAS Colorado, INC.
