• Shrub production will not be collected. Values will 6e in g/m2, lbs/ac and kg/ha.
~.^.
es ,
Species List. A list of sll species observed during sampling will be developed. Common
names will be included es will lifef orm, origin, and longevity. The initial species list
will be upgraded in subsequent monitoring efforts.
Sampling Methodologies. The following defines the general methodologies to be used in
sampling.
Lover. Cover will be measured by the point-intercept method. The point-intercept transact
viii be at least 25 meters loop with at least 50 points taken. Stratified and
non-stratified vegetation cover will be measured.
Production. Production date viii be collected by She harvest method. All herbaceous
vegetation occurring within the vertical projection of a 1/2m2-1m2 plot will be clipped and
bagged. The samples will 'be oven dried and weighed to the nearest tenth of a gram.
2
Species List. The species list will be developed from any spring flora investigations and
from information gathered during peek growing season sampling.
Samol ina Intensity. A minimum of one (7) sample for each ten (10) acres of reclaimed area
will be taken or until sample adequacy is achieved. Generally, et least LS samples are
collected unless the sampled unit is smell. Sampling locations will generally 6e
established through the use of random point selection. This method may be modified when it
becomes apparent that a more even distribution or alloceti on of sampling points would be
desirable, particularly if the reclamation block is split into a number of smell subunits.
Since the monitoring date is intended for evaluation of reclemati on methods end performance
of revegetated stands, end not for strict statistical analysis, this "allocation" method of
sample point selection is adequate. A sampling point is that location in the study area
or

[
where the production cover measurements ere collected.
