_ ~,=-
Mined Land Reclamation Division
Mr. Dan Mathews.
27 July, 1983
Page two
4. Interceptor ditches were placed above the road cuts to reduce
the probability of overland flow reaching the cut materials
and contributing to instability (Sta 5 + OO to 25 + 00)
5. The benching and key trench methods called for in the design were
altered slightly. Instead of a few wide benches, the road was
built up from the first layered bench in many successive notches;
each becoming a small bench. The end result is in keeping.with
the original design assumptions.
At the time of my inspection, several items were incomplete. The
major items were:
1. The road surface materials
2. Culvert entrances
3. Top soiling and seeding of upper fill slopes
The cut slopes at about Stations 35 + 00 to 40 + 00 have been sliding.
This is a maintenance problem, aggravated this year by unusually wet
conditions.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
HY~~D~~ROAA-TRIAD, LT/D.
1VVl~~ V
Michael L.
