• <br />C~ <br />dike, a cover of native grass over the tailings embankment, and a <br />meadow of grass and scattered trees and shrubs on the flat surface of <br />the former tailings pond. (Item 1) <br />- Trees and shrubs will be planted in specially treated and improved soil <br />that will be transported to the site. Between 30 and 40 trees ranging in <br />height from 3 to 6 feet will be planted every 15 feet along the starter <br />dike's southeastern face. Approximately 40 shrubs will be planted <br />between trees. (Item 1) <br />- ...and the fourth phase will be directed towards creating a diverse <br />cover of trees and shrubs on the reclaimed tailings pond. (Item 1) <br />- ...reclaimed starter dike, a wood fiber mulch and appropriate fertilizer <br />and soil amendments will be applied azound the transplanted trees and <br />shrubs.(Item 1) <br />4. COM Inc. will additionally provide complete characterization of the tailings <br />material that will be placed in the tailings impoundment. (Item 3: February <br />15, 1995) <br />2.7.1.1 Tailings Water Diversion System <br />1. The diversion ditches above the present tailings pond aze shown on Exhibit E- <br />1... The ditch reaches and sizes are displayed in a table on the map. (Item 3: <br />May 31, 1995) <br />2. A drainage diversion ditch was excavated above the tailings pond to intercept <br />water runoff and convey it away from the tailings impoundment. (Item 1& <br />Item 3: February 15, 1995) <br />3. Design storm for the ditches above the tailings pond is an SC. type 2- 100 yr., <br />24 hr. storm of 4.6 inches. (Item 3: May 2, 1995) <br />- A seepage collection ditch will also be excavated azound the <br />downstream perimeter of the tailings embankment dam. The water <br />that collects in this ditch will be conveyed by pipeline to the Hazel A <br />adit for underground storage and will be recycled through the milling <br />facility. (Item 3: February 15, 1995) <br />4. The line does not allow any seepage through Ute dam and, therefore, no <br />seepage collection was installed.
