f. %
In regards to the lJilliams Fork Strip Pit Wo. 2, a reference area
will be used to evaluate revegetation success. The reference area is
the baseline sampling area. Therefore, no statistical demonstration is
required to prove equality (cover, production, woody species, density,
diversion) between the reference area and the baseline area. The
reference area will receive the same management as the surrounding area
and will be reflective of post-mining land useage. At this time, it is
not necessary to fence the areas, however, if fencing is require for the
reference area, it will be done in a manner to reduce edge effects.
The comparisons to be made to initiate bond release will be bet~•ieen
the revegetated areas and the reference area and will occur during the
last two years of the liability period. In order to effect bond
release, the success criteria will be met for the last two years of the
liability period. The comparisons will be made for the following
parameters between the revegetated areas and the reference areas:
herbaceous cover and production, woody species density, and species
diversity. The success criteria for each will be presented below.
(REV. 11Jg/83)
IV-93a
