7 <br />12 July '95 DMG (Sorenson) ltr to COM, loc. (Hartley) endorsing ten (l0) COME technical <br />points raised in the July 3 Itr noted above. <br />18 July '95 COM, Inc. (Hartley) Itr to DMG (Sorenson); adequacy review responses. These <br />responses included responses to COME comments endorsed by DMG. Responses <br />were generally satisfactory. <br />27 July '95 Formal public hearing; consideration of a petition to reverse a Board Order issued <br />June 22, 1995. Result: Board temporized yet again, with sentiment expressed that <br />any further violations would result in prompt revocation of permit and bond <br /> forfeiture. <br />27 July '95 BC Land Use (G. Segn-e) Itr to DMG (A. Sorenson) stating County position that <br /> there are post-operational uses for the Mill building; thus, no reclamation bonding <br />n Q O for building removal is required. <br />~ <br />t ug. '95 <br />~ COM, Inc. (G. Fraser) ltr to R. Mason mentioning Mill Storm Water Permit. <br />_ <br />-g "~ tg. '95 Logged EPA report for trace metals analysis of Hazel A water; showed very high <br />~ 1' ~ levels of both Lead (41 ug/L) and Molybdenum (38 ug/L). Fraser) Itr to MLRB (presented at the Aug. 24 MLRB meeting), <br />• ~` stating in part, "I took seriously the implication of one of your Board <br /> members that COM, lnc. appeared to be a small time operator acting <br /> negligently and causing difficulties for the legitimate operators with <br /> regulators. 1 want to make every effort to correct that impression. That is not <br /> consistent with my style or my reputation in my industry." <br />24 Aug. '95 M. Steen memo to DMG (A. Sorenson) listing seven items needing correction at <br />millsite. As of this date (October 9, 1995), one of these (diversion ditches) has <br />been completed, three others (decant lines, Hazel A cleanup and pumpout, and <br />trash and contaminated soil cleanup) have been partially completed, and three <br />(pond liner damage, anchoring, and game fencing) have not been addressed. <br />26 Aug. '95 DMG site inspection at mill. Results detailed detects which must be corrected by <br />stated dates. Our follow-up must include obtaining tech. specs on liner repair & <br />verification that work has been done per spec.; critique of COM, Inc. response <br />to rip-rap repair of stormwater drainage settling pond outlet (we believe use of <br />inch-and-a-quarter gravel with no other retention is inadequate); verification that <br />CDH requirements (see below) were met for trash cleanup and oiUsoil removal; <br />Ha'PI A lined coffer dam and Rump-back sytitem not in place as of this date <br />(required to be complete NLT 1 Oct. '95); obtain results of Hazel A slimes <br />("fault-gouge") analysis, due back by mid-Sept. <br />
